Thornton Wilder, The Bridge of San Luis Rey
Heather stood there, watching in the same direction as Diana.
Her gaze was intense, matching eyes with the sky, like defying it.
The fingers tangled in her back, politely. Her lips twisted in a bitter expression.
“The wind. The wind corrodes everything. The frescoes are really old.
"Well is that any way to be now? We’re alive, aren’t we? And there isn’t possibly anything a little party can’t fix."
At that Diana leaned forward, almost yelling over the divider to the driver to head out to the place that they had been last weekend.
“Rianimare Madonna. We need to see so much more than ourselves!” She said with a shallow laugh- hell, she even belived it herself for a second.
Heather laughed a bit at Diana’s gestures.
She found her funny and quite bright.
”You’re right, my fine ma’am! I suppose we could just forget
all the shit for a while— for one night!”
She liked the speed, the car running smoothly,
approaching the city as the wind brushed their hair.
Diana could certainly transform any person’s gloomy day
into a brilliant and optimistic one. Heather appreciated that.
Bonus points if it works for both our muses
